My name is Anne Swar-el-Dahab and this is my 4th year teaching in Reception at KICS. I am originally from Manchester, UK and lived most of my adult life in London where I had various opportunities to teach a range of different age groups. I have been visiting our beloved Sudan since the late 80's and after completing a PGCE at UCL London, I decided to return yet again. I have seen so many changes and experienced lots of special moments whilst in Sudan, the most prominent event being the Revolution!
I love teaching Reception at KICS where we practice an inquiry-based approach to learning, giving the children an active role in what they want to learn and how they wish to learn it.
I have a real interest and fascination in textiles and sewing. I hope to encourage my young learners to try their hand at lacing, express themselves using fabrics and stitching as these skills will develop so many areas of growth.
I am looking forward to a year full of social interaction, curiosity and discovery, but most importantly- fun!

Being born in Northern California and raised in Southern California provided me with the chance to develop international mindedness at an early age. I went to school with and befriended children from Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Poland, Ireland, England, and America. Likewise, I learned from adults from all over the world too. I guess that I’ve had a wanderlust to learn from and about people from different cultures since childhood. As a family, my wife—Chie—and my daughter—Luna—are multi-lingual and multi-cultural. I feel fortunate to have chosen a career within international education and, thus far, I’ve worked at international schools in America, Japan, and China. Professionally, I’m most interested in how students with behavioral, cognitive, and language needs are supported to become more self-directed learners. To balance the grit it takes to succeed as an international educator, I have recently hiked many sections of the Great Wall, through grasslands, and over sand dunes in China, trekked in a few regions in Nepal, backpacked in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in America, and ran a few mountain trails in Japan. I look forward to my time in Sudan at KICS.

Hi there! I am from Singapore, but I have travelled enough and lived in different parts of the world to feel like a global citizen. I have over 20 years of corporate experience and have graduated from the Wharton School of Business, which has taught me that the learning process requires a crawl, walk and run approach, which in turn will make students effective leaders in their own right. I plan to share my experience and knowledge though PE and ODE (outdoor education) and build strong foundations in the students that will last them a lifetime. I have written 2 children’s picture books and I love playing Basketball. I also enjoy playing board games, traveling and taking care of my family, which leaves me little time to garden. It is always a pleasure teaching young minds and I am always excited to be with the students.

I am originally from New Brunswick, Canada and hold graduate degrees in music performance and education. I have been teaching music in Canada and in Africa for the past 10 years and am delighted to now be teaching in Sudan!
I am passionate about singing and believe that we do not sing because we are happy, but we are happy because we sing. My objective is to create an environment that fosters a lifelong love of music by engaging children to explore many areas of music, discover their unique gifts, and develop their sense of confidence.
Outside of school I love spending time with my husband Anwaz, and my dog Willoughby. I also enjoy reading and taking nature walks. I look forward to creating music with our KICS students and guiding them along in their musical journey.

I am passionate about teaching and making art. I believe that empowering children to create and appreciate art helps them to understand themselves and others, make sense of our increasingly visual world, trust their own ideas, and to imagine things that do not yet exist.
