Arts

Creative Arts and Design are an essential and rich part of student life at KICS. The Creative Arts Department are committed to fostering balanced student learning through the subjects; Visual Arts, Drama, Design Technology and Music. All students have the potential to develop as artists and candidates with experience in the Arts are well regarded by universities and employers for their creative thinking skills.

All of our Arts subjects are well resourced in terms and media, instruments and equipment, housed in well designed studios. The school also has an amphitheatre and excellent exhibition spaces.

In Years Seven, Eight and Nine, students rotate between Art, Music, Drama and Design Technology, spending a semester in each discipline each year. Year Ten and Eleven students choose one or two of the Arts courses as electives. IB Diploma students have the option to choose Visual Arts, Music or Theatre Arts for the two year programme.

In addition to Visual Arts, Drama, Design Technology and Music classes, the department also runs extra-curricular activities throughout the year, allowing students to perform or produce art which benefits our community. IB Diploma students are also involved in extra-curricular projects, and documentation of these experiences contribute to their CAS portfolios. In addition to this, KICS runs an Individual Tuition Programme which offers students a range of musical instruments to learn through private lessons.
