We have just finished another Book Week at KICS.  One important part of Book Week is Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R) and students and teachers spent 15 minutes reading any book of their choice to begin the day in a good mood. In the Secondary section students had a range of activities on offer.   The flagmania competition to guess the flags and capitals of the Asia, Middle East and Oceania was held again after strong student demand. Students competed against a teacher team and won. We celebrated comics (now also called graphic novels) and Japanese manga (comics translated into English) and discussed how the world of comics has changed hugely in the last 20 years.  There are now comics telling true stories, biographies in comic form and much more. The murder mystery competition returned again this year and students were busy being detectives trying to solve who killed Mr Denes, this year's ‘murder’ victim. Students dressed as a character for Tuesday and the best dressed individual and group won prizes. Let’s make this reading spirit that we had this week continue for the whole school year!
