Student CAS Project

During October last year, we raised awareness about breast cancer and donations to provide mammograms for our KICS female support staff members. The fundraising was successful and we managed to raise 17,000 SDG, meaning that we will be able to provide mammograms for all 17 staff members, even the ones under the recommended age of 35 years. We raised money by several means; we sold customized silver jewellery, helped organize The Pink walk and had a station for donation at the 24-Hour Relay. To help us, the senior student council (STUCO) organized a Pink Day where they sold cookies and students were allowed to wear pink in exchange for a donation. Our staff members are currently getting their mammograms done, a few members a day since Sunday, the 26th of January, 2020, all thanks to our community who helped us raise this money and provide this meaningful opportunity. We have personally gone to The Khartoum Breast Care Centre (KBCC) to learn about their process and have witnessed first-hand where the money is going. We, along with the KICS Support Staff, would like to thank all those who contributed to this cause and are looking forward to continuing this next year.
